Take me into the night

“Take Me InTo The Night” is my collection exploring the work of electronic musician Burial, Burial’s music is known for its emotive and introspective nature, often dealing with themes of isolation and sadness. In interviews, he has discussed how his music is inspired by personal experiences and emotions, and how he uses sound to create a sense of space and atmosphere. His music often incorporates ambient sounds and field recordings, creating a sense of distance and detachment. In many of his songs, the vocals are heavily distorted or pitched down, adding to the feeling of isolation and disconnection. Overall, Burial’s music is marked by a deep sense of melancholy, offering a window into the innermost thoughts and feelings of the artist.

The collection is characterised by a sense of solitude, reflecting the emotional journey of the protagonist as he navigates the quiet, post-rave world. The use of dark, muted colors is a nod to the music’s signature aesthetic, while the use of depth and perspective captures the sense of isolation and disconnection that the character experiences. Throughout the collection, there are subtle references to the rave culture from which the protagonist comes, adding a layer of nostalgia and longing to the narrative. Overall, the collection is a reflection of the emotional landscape of the character, and serves as a tribute to the evocative and atmospheric music of Burial.

“It’s more about when you come back from being out somewhere; in a minicab or a night bus, or with someone, or walking home across London late at night, dreamlike, and you’ve still got the music kind of echoing in you, in your bloodstream, but with real life trying to get in the way. I want it to be like a little sanctuary.” - Burial
